Active Minerals market in India

Utkal Alumina International Limited has placed orders for a bauxite grinding installation and a mud washing plant. The contracts include design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning.

NEW ORDER

Significant alumina projects

The bauxite grinding package consists of three 300 tph rod mills, bauxite storage silos, handling equipment and pumps. The mud washing package includes nine settler/washer tanks along with flocculant dosing systems, holding tanks, pumps/valves and piping. The use of deep cone technology will reduce the footprint of the plant and ensure improved soda recovery and reduced mud volume disposals.

Anrak Aluminium Ltd. has ordered a gas suspension calcination system for its 1.5 million tpy alumina refinery project. The site of the new alumina plant is 65 km from the city of Visakhapatnam in the east Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The contract includes design, engineering, and supervision for the entire equipment package. The scope of supply comprises a gas suspension calciner, hydrate storage and reclaiming equipment, pan filters, baghouse filters, a pipe conveyor and a material handling system for two 25,000 tonne silos. The order for bauxite mills is the third received in India in recent years, whilst the gas suspension calciner contract is the fourth awarded by Indian customers within the past four years. “The contracts confirm FLSmidth’s leading position in the supply of technology and equipment for the alumina industry,” Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen says.

ESPs for different applications

FLSmidth Airtech’s well-proven electrostatic precipitators are to be used for different projects being implemented by India’s steel and pulp & paper industries.

Larsen & Toubro Limited, India’s engineering and construction major, is building one of the world’s largest pellet plants with a capacity of 6 million tpy for Tata Steel at Jamshedpur. The scope of Airtech’s supplies includes complete flange-to-flange ESPs with rigid support structure for venting of wind boxes 1 & 2, hood exhaust and plant dedusting.

Meanwhile Essar Steel Limited has also ordered ESPs for its 6 million tpy pellet plant at Paradeep in the state of Orissa. The scope of supply includes three complete flange-to-flange ESPs, venting of wind boxes and hood exhaust systems.
