”We continue to develop our core product base for the cement and minerals industries”, Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen said, commenting the recent takeover of the 100 percent shareholding in Darimec S.r.L.
Italy-based Darimec designs and manufactures highly specialised gears and pinions for both cement and minerals applications. It has supplied more than 1,100 girth gears worldwide, those for kilns measuring up to 10 metres in diameter, and those for mills up to 11.2 metres.
It also produces special reducers transmitting up to 10,000 kW in addition to all kinds of pinions as well as kiln rollers and small segment tyres.
Darimec complements this extensive programme of equipment supplies with a full range of customer-focused services, including the overhaul/rebuild and re-engineering of existing gearboxes.
The name of Darimec derives from its founder, Mr Mario Dagnoni, an Italian entrepreneur and mechanical craftsman, whose three sons continue in the management of the business.
Darimec is a perfect match for FLSmidth’s existing gear activities, which are organised within FLSmidth MAAG Gear, the competence centre for gears and drive systems. Providing drive solutions from one source will enable the company to provide customers with a much wider scope of products and services and support its expanding activities in worldwide markets.
The headquarters of FLSmidth MAAG Gear AG will remain in Winterthur, Switzerland. Production will take place in two modern manufacturing plants: at the already existing FLSmidth MAAG Gear Sp. z o. o. in Elblag, Poland, and at Darimec, which will be renamed FLSmidth MAAG Gear S.p.A.
