Canadian-based Knelson has joined the FLSmidth Group. Knelson is a world leader in gravity concentration equipment used in mining and minerals processing. With 3,000 installations supplied to major gold, platinum and silver mining companies in 70 countries worldwide, Knelson has established a strong and comprehensive customer base.
The Knelson™ concentrator is a prime example of the company’s commitment to developing and supplying environmentally safe solutions. It provides simple, reliable and trouble-free operation without the use of chemical reagents.
Another example of high-performing Knelson technology is the Knelson-Deswik™ vertical grinding mill (now the FLSmidth® stirred mill). FLSmidth was recently awarded a contract for a 40,000 tpd greenfield copper ore concentration plant in Mongolia, in which the mill will play an important part in regrinding concentrate and ensuring high recovery rates.
According to FLSmidth Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen, the acquisition of Knelson will strengthen FLSmidth’s offerings especially in precious metals processing and will support the Group’s ability to serve all customers’ needs for process technology and integrated solutions.
FLSmidth Knelson’s activities, which involve some 140 employees, are handled out of the main facilities in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. In addition, the acquisition includes the assets of Knelson’s Russia operations, which continue to operate from Irkutsk, Russia.
