Tata Steel has placed a new order for FLSmidth’s globally proven KOCH Pipe Conveyor® technology.
Worth approximately INR 1,900 million, this order consists of two KOCH Pipe Conveyors which will transport 6 million tonnes of iron ore per year over a distance of around 9 km from the steel company’s Khondbond mines to the railway loading point at Joda in the state of Odisha, located on the east coast of India.
The total conveying capacity of both pipe conveyors is 1,400 tonnes per hour. With one pipe conveyor measuring 3,600 meters and the other 5,300 meters, these conveyors will run through challenging terrain.
Tata Steel has increased its focus on safety and corporate responsibility, especially environmentally friendly initiatives. Choosing a supplier with similar ideals, such as FLSmidth, helps further its reaches toward these responsibilities. FLSmidth has previously delivered an in-plant pipe conveyor to Tata Steel’s pellet plant application at its Jamshedpur facility.
