When Rio Tinto needed one of their thickeners rebuilt in a remote part of Western Australia, it turned out to be more than just a routine modification. As FLSmidth customer service, site and project personnel started the draining and cleaning process, they discovered additional required repairs and maintenance that greatly increased the scale of the project and provided opportunities for FLSmidth to showcase its professionalism and quality service repair work.

Delivering quality training when and where our customers need it most
Our flotation specialists recently commissioned the Series 600 SuperCell flotation cell as an integral part of the Robinson concentrator plant in Ely, Nevada. This SuperCell mechanism has a enormous volume of 660 m3, making it the largest operating flotation cell in the world.
Approximately 40 years ago, the power limits for large vertical mills driven with bevel-spur-gear arrangements were reached. With these limitations on the spur gear’s capabilities, gear suppliers had to innovate on a new gear arrangement to fulfil the increased demands coming from the industry.
Faced with an increasingly competitive landscape and the need to continually reduce costs, FLSmidth’s tech center for vibrating screen technology, located in Brisbane, Australia, embarked on a product rejuvenation project to stay at the forefront of the industry.
