Improve the knowledge and aptitude of your onsite personnel and you’ll be on the way to improving your plant’s overall performance. FLSmidth offers specialized training programs and technical courses within the minerals industry.
One such training recently took place at FLSmidth’s Pinkenba facility in Queensland, Australia. This particular seminar focused on thickener technologies. A professional team was assembled, including technical trainers, a global product manager, technical support, and site services personnel, to create a program to first educate and train internal sales people.
Feedback from this initial training enabled instructors to test and review the training program internally to see if any improvements or modifications were required. After receiving valuable feedback from the participants, the structure of the content was improved.
In March, just a couple of weeks after the initial training, the program was extended to customers as a two-day Thickener Training Seminar. FLSmidth was privileged to host 25 key customers travelling from around Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG). These clients included participants from BASF, Glencore, Barrick LTD – Porgera PNG, BMA Projects Group, Moolarben Coal Mine, and New Acland Coal Mine.
The content for the thickener seminar was a mixture of case study reviews, hands-on testwork and formal lessons which focused on:
The seminar allowed participants to raise issues from their own operations and pose questions to the entire group. The ensuing discussions and learnings were used to solve issues within a group environment.
There was an encouraging level of support from the regional operations, looking to increase their level of competence regarding thickeners. Several of the participants requested further support and training, which will lead to further development of customer relationships and new business opportunities.
“This training has opened up opportunities to work with clients we have had minimal business with in the recent past. It has shown clients our competencies based not only in the USA, but here in Australia – expertise they are now tapping into,” said David Williams, General Manager, Customer Services, Australia.
During the seminar, attendees were given a tour of FLSmidth’s Pinkenba laboratory and were impressed with the facilities and pilot plant equipment available in Australia. “Customers are now more aware of our testing capabilities as part of our end-to-end service strategy,” said Williams. “We received very positive feedback from all the attendees.”
Customized on-site training is available for all of FLSmidth's mineral processing product groups and technologies, including crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, sedimentation, process technology, testing and more.
